Petitioners Statement
Our principal concern with Mr. Bailey centers on his affirmative vote to continue Public
Activity Bonds for the Royal Pines Apartment Project. Despite clear and substantial
opposition from the community, Mr. Bailey chose to support these bonds. This decision,
along with his stance on other significant issues, demonstrates a pattern of disregarding
the voices and concerns of the citizens he was elected to represent.
Mr. Bailey’s approach to other matters further highlights our concerns. As a candidate,
Mr. Bailey publicly stated his intention to vote in favor of the Karman Line Annexation.
Since taking office, he has continued to support the decisions made by the previous
council, even though there was a decisive vote against the initiative by the community.
Additionally, his endorsement of the Ford Amphitheater project is another example of
his consistent disregard for constituent input throughout District 2.
While we acknowledge and respect Mr. Bailey’s distinguished service to our country
through his military career, as well as his dedication to civil service, we must express
our fundamental disagreement with the manner in which he represents us as our
Councilmember.
Should the question of recall appear on the ballot, Mr. Bailey will have the opportunity to
respond directly to our petition statement. Ultimately, it will be up to the voters to
determine the outcome.
